Dramaturgy
I love to work with new writing – not just my own, but also supporting other writers to clarify, deepen, structure, and refine their stories.
I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes plays and musicals work, whether they follow established storytelling traditions or take a more experimental form.
My approach is centred on your aims as the writer, and how you want to connect with your audience. My role as a dramaturg is to ask the right questions so that you can find the answers you’re looking for.
“Your insight is so valuable! You gave me tons to think about that will not only straighten out the plot, but really give it some much-needed punch.” – writer Jamsheed Master
Let’s Work Together
I can offer a live conversation about an early show concept, feedback on a finished draft, or even participation in a rehearsal or devising process, depending on where you are in the creation of your piece.
I use a sliding scale for my rates, for projects with and without funding, starting at £35 per hour. Please see my rate card here, or get in touch for a bespoke quote based on your needs.

What Writers Say
“The wonderful Amy will help you say what you want to say in your piece, and help you to find the best way to say it, without ever dictating what you should do. It’s like having fairy dust sprinkled on your work, and suddenly your frog of a show is standing before you as a handsome prince! Highly recommended!” – writer Neil Bastian
“Amy is a gifted dramaturg and theatre fairy. She was instrumental in shaping an early idea, creating structure and breaking down what can feel like daunting prospects into manageable (and enjoyable) tasks. She has bags of skills, artistic sensitivity and passion for the craft.” – writer Chiara Vascotto
“Amy gave such valuable feedback and insight into the characters and plot development, which really helped me develop our show. Her attention to the story was incredibly helpful.” – writer Winston Eade
“Working with Amy is an amazing experience. Her feedback goes to the core of the story with surgical precision, and always feels immediately actionable and empowering. You can tell it comes from a tremendous love of storytelling and a deep knowledge of the craft.” – writer Victor Gil-López
“Amy really knows her stuff. She is an excellent listener and you can see the cogs turning as she’s processing what you’re saying in real time. Her feedback is always incisive and thoughtful – and most importantly of all, honest. I will definitely go back to her as my show develops further. She understands characters and their arcs incredibly well and I would recommend her to anyone looking to sharpen and deepen their story and script.” – writer Emma Wolfin Golding
